This Found North Batch 1 is the perfect example of what I want to be drinking in a Canadian whisky! Robust yet nuanced.

The blend the fellas at Found North used for this is; 16 year old rye aged in Hungarian oak, 17 year old rye aged in ex-Speyside scotch casks, and a double-distilled corn whisky aged for 20 years in refill and level-2-char virgin oak.

There's definitely spice and sweet oak, but also so much more. Fruit blossom floral notes, especially orange and peach. Dried red fruit flesh and orchard fruit skins follow the floral expression and lead to eucalyptus, white pepper, and cayenne all wrapped up in a honeyed envelope of warmth and heat.

People who are familiar with my tastes and opinions know that, like this whisky, my thoughts on Non-Distiller Producer products are nuanced. Zack and Sam of Found North aren't just label slapping repurposed juice like some NDPs out there, they are blending whiskies in a way that you can't help but still call craft.

Magnificent.

This was not a completely objective review as it was not done blind. I was aware of what I was drinking at the time of drinking it. I purchased this bottle myself and it was not provided by Found North for review.
